ENTRY GATE TO WATT KHEMARANGSARAM, BONNYRIGG

After the successful completion of the design and construction supervision of the Khmer Buddhist Temple in Bonnyrigg we were given a beautiful drawing of an entry gate adorned with intricate decorations.

We chose to design the structural core as a reinforced concrete portal frame anchored for lateral wind and earthquake loads by reinforced concrete piers taken some 4.0 metres into the ground.
The decorative dragon heads and spinal fins were secured to the reinforced blade wall on top of the portal frame with projecting anchoring rods.

The gate was officially declared completed on 25 December 2004 by the Minister of Immigration and the final product looks spectacular and underlines Australian’s multicultural diversity.

In 2005 the project gained the accolade of “favourable mention” in the finals of the Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia – Public Domain Competition.
