Spiritual Buddhist Temple

SPIRITUAL BUDDHIST TEMPLE, BONNYRIGG

In 1995 our offices were visited by the then President of the Khmer Community of NSW and 3 of their community members to help them to obtain a building approval from Fairfield City Council which had rejected their structural drawings.

So began our association with Buddhist Spiritual Buildings.  The first was the Wat Khemarangsaram at 26 Bonnyrigg Avenue, Bonnyrigg.

We designed the basement area as a mixture of load bearing masonry and concrete columns, all founded on pier and beam foundations.

The main temple structure was designed as a structural steelwork frame with the columns encased in concrete for fire rating reasons.

The intricate roof was designed using conventional Australian timber framing supporting the magnificent sculptures, pagoda and decorations which were all produced in reinforced fibreglass material.

The temple was officially opened by the Minister of Immigration, the Hon. Philip Ruddock on 15 March 1998 marking a new milestone in Kneebone & Beretta Consulting Engineers Pty Ltd by having expanded our skills into the design of traditional 4000 year old buildings of worship.
